Just a couple of miles west of Lake Conroe is downtown Montgomery (birth place of the Texas state flag!). Historic downtown Montgomery Tx has many events and activities during the year for families to enjoy; there are the Lone Star first Saturday‘s where there’s a farmers market nestled under the old Oak trees with homemade, handmade, and homegrown fare for people to see and purchase, then there’s the wine and music fest where people can discover Texas wines and Texas foods while enjoying Texas music. Don’t forget the numerous antique shops and “Christmas in Montgomery” for the kids!
Moving back to Lake Conroe; if you like to fish, this is the place for you! Lake Conroe has approx 21,000 surface acres from which to explore and fish, while there are numerous local fishing tournaments for those more enthusiastic about the sport. Of course for those who don’t care to fish there’s the Sam Houston Nation Forest to enjoy the outdoors, this can be seen from the northern half of Lake Conroe by boat, or by traveling North through Montgomery Tx by car. Like to play golf? There are over 30 golf courses within a 15 mile radius of Lake Conroe for you to enjoy.
Don’t forget the La Torretta Resort when visiting, it’s a 5 star resort and a great place for the whole family. La Torreta on Lake Conroe is located on the Walden peninsula of Lake Conroe and has resort like amenities to enjoy; from tennis, golf, various restaurants, and a huge water park with lazy rivers, there is certainly something for everyone here.
